The fundraiser was great because we saw a lot of support for music and musicians in the area. That being said I had a discussion with an individual who thought that they were not welcome on our site because of some conflict they had with other musicians in the area. Please don't start playing guessing games as to whom it is because it doesn't matter. I'm letting everyone know exactly what I told this person: As the person who does the web site for dStreet I do not care to get involved with conflicts between musicians. If you are out there making music and want to be listed on our site, I will make sure you are represented here if you wish to be. There are people that I have come to know and love through working on this site and I may support them but I can and will be objective when it comes to promoting music and musicians on dStreet. I honestly hope that no one ever feels that dStreet has a grudge against him/her because we do not. So feel free to send us your info so we can list you on the site. If you do not wish to be listed, you can always post your events on our calendar.
Now on to my second point: the last couple of weeks there have been some messages posted on band sites that some have considered negative. We reserve the right to remove or alter any post that we deem offensive. I might correct your spelling errors if I see them and have the time because I'm offended by spelling mistakes. I might not, so watch your spelling. I might remove comments that people put in the email section of their message that are too long. If something is blatantly offensive to most people, we will remove it. That being said, I'm a firm believer in freedom of speech and will probably let most messages stand. This does not mean that we here at dStreet support those opinions. We are just letting people have their say.
On the other hand, if you are a band and wish to have the message portion of your band page removed, that is your choice: it's your page.
We would like to see everyone be supportive, but this is the internet age where everyone has an opinion and they feel they need to share it in whatever manner they want. Just like I am right now! In the spirit of free speech, I'm going to let you respond to this. Just don't swear too much or make racist/sexist/etc type comments. Those I will have to pull.
Maybe I am just upset over the fact that the Tigers are on a 6 game winning streak and I thought they would take first place tonight but the White Sox pulled a win out vs. Seattle in the 11th inning!
