DSTREET ENTERTAINMENT FOUNDATION GOALS
I. Basic Services
A. Providing financial and volunteer support for bands, performers, etc. that volunteers their services for board approved fundraisers and non profit special events. Events include medical need fundraisers, disaster fundraisers, family emergencies, youth organizational fundraisers etc.
This financial support will assist the volunteer in covering out of pocket expenses such as gas, travel, equipment support and basic organizational expenses that would be justified to the board at the time of approval with detailed description of the costs.
B. Promoting band performances, community events and fundraisers for free on the website. (www.dstreet.info)
II. Youth Activities
A. Developing and organizing educational seminars and classes that allow young kids to learn about the music industry in a safe and responsible forum. These programs will be taught by local and regional professionals with an emphasis on ethics.
B. Providing financial support for students of all ages interested in advancing their talents in the entertainment industry. Building scholarships and grants that will assist with programs such as; after school programs, music and voice lessons, college level classes, equipment, recording sessions, music duplication costs, travel etc. All requests will be submitted in writing and must be approved by the board.
C. Allowing kids to gain first hand experience with organizing and promoting events. These experiences would include; local fundraisers and concerts, web promotion, radio interviews, writing press releases, creating posters and building guest lists.
D. Building professional relationships both locally and nationally for kids and adults to have opportunities to find internships and employment in their field of interest within the entertainment industry.
III. Making Midland and the Tri-Cities a destination for entertainment
A. Developing and supporting community activities that will build a reputation for Midland and the Tri-Cities as a hub for quality entertainment. (I.E. Parkapalooza, Sound of Michigan, The Main Event)
B. Helping to promote and legitimize the quality of talent in our area by spotlighting local talent on our website each month. Giving bands a format to communicate and trade information.
C. Providing information about the local talent and how to find it. The website helps organizers and individuals search for local and regional entertainers. The website also provides links, contact information, descriptions, music as well as allowing for interactive comments about local entertainers.
IV. Developing a Tri-Cities Music Hall of Fame
A. Building the committee.
B. Organizing a yearly event to honor the inductees
C. Keeping the information on the website for preservation and educational history of the talent in our area.
D. Inductees would include; local bands, individual performers, producers, dj's, voice and music instructors, band teachers, etc….Criteria would be established by the committee.
V. Franchising the Foundation to reach other communities
A. Creating a platform and history of the development dstreet. Using this template to teach other communities how to establish their own local dstreet foundation chapter in their community.
B. Selling state and regional territory boundaries and website extensions from the www.dstreet.info site and building a national library of talent that is all maintained locally and supported locally.
C. Using the funds generated from the expansion of the foundation to continue to build on the principles established. As the Foundation Grows the Tri-Cities area will grow and we will build on the idea that talent and support of talent starts right here in Midland.
Conclusion:
dstreet Entertainment Foundation has already succeeded in co-developing a successful program called Parkapalooza. In the first two -years of the program it raised over six thousand dollars for Adopt a Child Smile.
The foundation has also assisted in promoting hundreds of local non-profit charity events.
We are currently undertaking our first educational program for teens.
Over the past Three years we have spotlighted over 30 local bands or artists worthy of more recognition. We provide them with an outlet to promote them for free on the website, as well as inform the community of the activities available.
dstreet has built a solid foundation of followers and friends. We hope it continues with your help.
